Business Continuity Planning (BCP) is the process of developing advance arrangements and procedures that enable your Department or Operating Unit to respond and recover from a catastrophic event in such a manner that critical business functions continue without serious or essential change. To be better prepared for an emergency situation, Syracuse University Business Finance and Administrative Services Departments/Units are required to develop a Business Continuity Plan to describe how their department will operate during an emergency in which they have loss or unavailability of staff, or information technology, or loss or inaccessibility of their facility for an extended period of time with the goal of recovering sufficiently to be operational, and to provide essential services to SU faculty, staff and students. The first step in developing a Business Continuity Plan is to identify, categorize, and prioritize the critical, vital, and necessary services within each Department/Unit. The template provided below will assist you in developing a Business Continuity Plan specifically for your Department/Unit.
